OILThis is a featured page

James Fishwick james.fishwick@bodley.ox.ac.uk has set up a whole range of Web 2.0 utilities for the Oriental Institute Library recently. The idea is to try and get them working together and feeding into each other- we'll see how that goes!
We’re aiming to advertise these tools widely when the 2009-2010 academic year begins, and to then use them to keep in touch with users. Giving them news and getting their views.
We’re also re-vamping the OIL OULS webpage at the moment. So we should have a good detailed & informative web presence soon…

Facebook
http://www.facebook.com/pages/Oxford-United-Kingdom/Oriental-Institute-Library/137472003754
Our Facebook page, with all the normal sort of stuff. We're hoping to promote this among new students in the up-coming academic year, use it as a portal to give them information about the Library and to get information from them about their needs.

Wordpress Blog
http://oiloxford.wordpress.com/
Our blog, updated weekly (so far!) This has an RSS feed, that is imported into our Facebook page as notes.
We’ve been using the blog to talk about big projects going on in the library, fill people in with our news. We’re also planning on publishing our new accessions lists there.

LiveJournal
http://syndicated.livejournal.com/oiloxford/
A simple syndicated stream of our blog's RSS feed. You need to have a Paid Livejournal account to set up a syndicated feed, but luckily James has one.

LibraryThing
http://www.librarything.com/venue/32855/Oriental-Institute-Library,-Oxford-University
Someone called Rivendell added a load of OULS libraries to Library Thing. James has now claimed the OIL page (it's very simple), and put our basic info up there along with links to our main webpage and our Facebook page. Doubt we'll do anything more with LibraryThing, but it's another way that people might try to find us.
